Stage Description
The short stage following the mythical ascent to O Cebreiro is a spectacular walk along the mountain's crest. The profile features a gentle rise and fall of over 1,200 meters in altitude, with panoramic views of Os Ancares and O Courel sierras. It's a day to enjoy alpine scenery and authentic Galicia. The route passes through small stone and slate villages. The destination is Hospital da Condesa, a small village with an albergue offering a peaceful rest in a high mountain setting.
The stage that starts from the magical village of O Cebreiro is one of the most beautiful stages on the entire French Way. It's a short day that runs along the crest of the Serra de Rañadoiro, in a terrain of gentle undulations at high altitude. The landscape is spectacular, with 360-degree views over a sea of mountains. The trail advances along a mountain path, in an environment of alpine meadows and broom. It passes through the small villages of Liñares and Padornelo. The highest point on the French Way in Galicia is Alto do Poio, at 1,335 meters. Arrival at Hospital da Condesa, a traditional village with architecture, marks the end of the stage. Its name recalls the old pilgrim hospital that existed here. It's a place of absolute tranquility, perfect for rest and enjoying the silence of the mountains.
