Discover A Estrada
A Estrada, an extensive municipality in the interior of Pontevedra province, is a key stop for pilgrims on the South East Way, one of the variants of the Via Plata. Known for its predominantly rural surroundings and green valley landscapes, it offers an authentic experience of Galicia's interior. Its territory is dotted with numerous estates, noble houses from Galicia that testify to a rich past. For the pilgrim, A Estrada is an important service center that allows for comfortable rest before tackling the final stages towards Santiago de Compostela. The locality is also famous for "Festa do Salmón", as the Ulla River, one of Spain's most salmon-rich rivers, marks its northern border. This river has a deep connection to Jacobean heritage, being the fluvial route of the legendary Translatio. Walking through A Estrada is enjoying the tranquility of Galician countryside, its heritage and the hospitality of its people, a stop that connects with nature and history in the final stretch of the pilgrimage.
