Arcade

Arcade, a parish of the municipality of Soutomaior, is an emblematic food stop on the Camino Portugués Central. Set where the river Verdugo meets the ría de Vigo, it is known worldwide as the "oyster capital", a delicacy that draws visitors and pilgrims alike. The place is also a historic landmark thanks to the bridge of Pontesampaio, scene of a decisive battle against Napoleon's troops in the Peninsular War. Crossing that long stone bridge is one of the most photogenic moments of the stage.
