Discover Atienza
Atienza, one of the most spectacular and best-preserved medieval villages in Guadalajara, is a monumental stop on the Camino de la Lana. Its silhouette is unmistakable, with an imposing rocky castle that rises above a hill, dominating the landscape and offering exceptional panoramic views. Declared a Historic-Artistic Ensemble, strolling through Atienza is like traveling back to the Middle Ages. For pilgrims, the village is an outdoor museum, featuring an incredible collection of Romanesque churches such as San Juan del Mercado, the Holy Trinity, or San Bartolomé. Its Grain Market Square, porticoed and beautifully designed, is the heart of local life. Atienza is also famous for its La Caballada festival, a National Tourist Interest event. With pilgrim hostels and restoration services, it's a culturally enriching stop. In the Camino de Santiago, it's a milestone that connects the walker with the history of the borderlands of the Reconquista and with the splendor of Romanesque Castilian art.
