Discover Consuegra
Consuegra, in the province of Toledo, is one of the most iconic and visually impactful stops on the Camino Manchego. Its image is a universal icon of La Mancha: an imposing medieval castle at the top of Calderico Hill, flanked by a row of twelve massive windmills, beautifully preserved. For the pilgrim, arriving in Consuegra is like entering a chapter of Don Quixote. The climb up the hill is obligatory, not just to visit the castle and windmills (one with original machinery), but to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Manchegan plain. The town, at the foot of the hill, has an interesting Plaza de España and the church of San Juan Bautista. It's a locality with great tradition and rich gastronomy. For the Camino de Santiago walker, Consuegra offers an immersive experience in Quixotesque imagination, with all necessary services for a restorative break. It's an etapa that feeds the spirit with its beauty and literary echo, an unforgettable milestone in the heart of Spain.
