Discover Faro de Fisterra

The Lighthouse of Fisterra (Finisterre), built in 1853, is more than a maritime signal; it's one of Europe's most symbolic places and the final destination for thousands of pilgrims. Situated at the same-named headland, considered by the Romans as "Finis Terrae", the end of the world known, is the culmination point of the Camino dos Faros and the Jacobean extension from Santiago. For the walker, reaching this lighthouse, after a long journey, is an emotionally intense moment that can't be compared. It's the place of rituals, where traditionally shoes or some other garment are burned as a symbol of purification and one contemplates the majestic sunset over the infinite ocean, a spectacle that symbolizes death and rebirth. The surroundings, with its steep cliffs and the bravery of the Atlantic, is overwhelming. Next to the lighthouse stands the kilometer zero marker, the true end of the path for many. It's a place where history, legend, and personal spiritual search converge, the perfect finale for any pilgrimage.
