Galisteo is one of the great monumental surprises of the Via de la Plata. This Cáceres town is surrounded by an impressive Moorish wall of origin, built with rounded stones from the River Jerte, which is almost entirely intact throughout its perimeter. Walking along its ramparts is a unique experience. Inside the walled enclosure, the pilgrim discovers a medieval town layout, with its Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, which preserves a Mudéjar apse, and the imposing Palace of the Dukes of Alba.
