Lebeña is a small village in the Hermida Gorge that guards an invaluable architectural treasure: the church of Santa María de Lebeña. This temple, dated to the 10th century, is one of the greatest examples of Mozarabic art in Spain. Its interior, with horseshoe arches and Corinthian capitals, creates a magical and evocative atmosphere. For pilgrims on the Lebaniego Way, a stop to visit this jewel is almost obligatory. The surroundings, nestled between the imposing walls of the gorge, add beauty to the visit. Lebeña is a place to travel through time and marvel at the artistic legacy of the High Middle Ages, an experience of first-class cultural and spiritual significance in the Liébana region.
