Discover Morgade

Morgade is a tiny hamlet in the parish of Ferreiros, within the municipality of Paradela in Lugo province, which has gained enormous symbolic relevance on the Camino Francés thanks to its proximity to the famous 100-kilometre marker. This stone milestone, one of the most photographed spots on the Camino de Santiago, marks the minimum distance a walking pilgrim must complete to earn the Compostela. Surrounded by lush oak and chestnut forests, moss-covered stone walls and the characteristic Galician "corredoiras" (sunken lanes), Morgade preserves the rural essence of inland Galicia. Although it is a tiny hamlet, it has a welcoming hostel-restaurant that has become a much-appreciated stopover for pilgrims wishing to split the long stage between Sarria and Portomarín. Spending the night here means enjoying the tranquillity of the Galician countryside, homemade dinners and a silence broken only by the sounds of the woodland. For the walker, Morgade marks the moment when the goal stops being an abstraction and becomes a true countdown.
