Nuremberg (Nürnberg), the second-largest city in Bavaria, is an important historical stop on the Jacobean routes that cross Germany, such as the Via Jacobi. Although marked by its role in the 20th century, its medieval past as one of the free imperial cities of the Holy Roman Empire Germanic is fascinating.
