The Town

Discover Pontecesures

Pontecesures is a Pontevedra town with great importance in Jacobean history. Situated by the Ulla River, it is here where, according to tradition, the boat carrying the remains of Saint James arrived. It is the final point on the "Traslatio" maritime-fluvial route. For the pilgrim of the Portuguese Way, it is one of the last stops before Santiago. Its original Roman bridge and its riverine atmosphere mark the stage. The locality offers all services and is a place loaded with symbolism, where the walker feels closer to the goal than ever, following the final steps of the apostolic legend.
