Discover Puerto de la Fuenfría

The Puente de la Fuenfría, situated at an altitude of 1,796 meters, is the highest point and one of the most iconic landmarks on the Camino de Madrid. This historic mountain pass, nestled in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama, marks the border between the provinces of Madrid and Segovia. For pilgrims, reaching the Fuenfría means overcoming the greatest incline on the entire route, a moment of great personal satisfaction. The port is an ancient crossroads, and the Jacobean route coincides here with a spectacular Roman road magnificently preserved, inviting one to imagine the passage of legions and travelers over centuries. The surroundings are of exceptional beauty, surrounded by dense pine forests and fresh water springs, such as the one that gives the port its name. There are no services at the summit, which reinforces the feeling of being in the midst of nature. Crownning the Puente de la Fuenfría is a rite of passage for the pilgrim on the Camino de Madrid, a place to rest, enjoy the views and prepare for the long descent towards the monumental city of Segovia.
