Discover Puerto de Piedrasluengas

The Piedrasluengas Pass is one of the most important and spectacular geographical landmarks on the Castellano Lebaniego Way. Located at 1,355 meters above sea level, this mountain pass marks the natural border between the Palentina Mountains and the Liébana region in Cantabria. For the pilgrim ascending from the plateau, reaching this peak is a moment of great satisfaction and a true physical challenge. The effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Cantabrian Mountains, with the Picos de Europa often visible on the horizon. The landscape here is high mountain terrain, with meadows, oak forests, and an overwhelming sense of vastness. At the summit there is a viewpoint and a small village that offers well-deserved rest. Crossing Piedrasluengas is an authentic pilgrimage experience, a meeting with the hardness and beauty of nature in its purest form. From here, the Way of St James begins the exciting descent into Liébana valley, with the Monastery of Santo Toribio getting closer every day. It's a turning point that remains etched in the memory of the walker.
