Discover Río Ulla
The River Ulla is a vital artery in Galician geography and a pillar of Jacobean tradition. According to legend, it was by its waters that the boat carrying the remains of Saint James navigated from Arousa Bay to Padrón on the journey known as "Traslatio". For pilgrims who choose the Spiritual Variant or the Route of Arousa Bay, remounting the Ulla is a deeply symbolic experience, connecting with the very origins of pilgrimage. The route is flanked by an abundant riverbank landscape and dotted with "cruceiros" (centuries-old crosses), mute witnesses to the passage of the apostolic boat. This fluvial stretch is not just a path, but an immersion in legend, nature, and spirituality that defines the essence of Galicia.
