Discover Salceda
Salceda is a small hamlet in the municipality of O Pino in A Coruña province, nestled in the final stretch of the Camino Francés, between Arzúa and O Pedrouzo. Surrounded by the characteristic eucalyptus and oak forests that define the landscape of this part of Atlantic Galicia, the hamlet is a much-appreciated stopover for those wishing to split the long stage to O Pedrouzo into two more manageable sections. The scent of eucalyptus, the dirt tracks, the small stone cruceiros and the feeling of camaraderie among pilgrims shape the experience of walking through this area. Salceda offers several hostels, rural guesthouses, bars and restaurants focused on serving pilgrims, making it a perfect place to spend the night when the excitement of approaching Santiago already fills the air. Beside the road stands the monument to Guillermo Watt, a pilgrim who died just a few kilometres from the finish, a moving reminder of the deeper meaning of the Camino.
