Verrès is a historic village in the Aosta Valley, an important stop for pilgrims on the Via Francigena. The profile of the village is dominated by the imposing castle of Verrès, a formidable stone cube representing one of the best examples of feudal fortress from the 14th century. The town at its feet preserves a medieval atmosphere and the Collegiate Church of Saint-Gilles. For the walker, it is a place of great historical and architectural interest. Its strategic location in the valley and its services make it an ideal stop before continuing on to a beautiful alpine landscape dotted with castles and vineyards.
