Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Stage of the Camino del Ebro through the Rioja Baja. The 25 km run through the fertile lowlands of the Ebro, one of the most fertile agricultural areas of Spain, with fruit, almond and vegetable crops. Calahorra is a millenary city, ancient Roman Calagurris Iulia (birthplace of the rhetor Quintilian), with the Cathedral of Santa Maria (15th century) and an important Roman archaeological heritage.
This stage is the last of the North Way as an independent route. The walk is a pleasant stroll through rural Galicia, with a gentle undulating profile. Arrival in Arzúa marks the union with the French Way and the Primitive Way. The atmosphere changes completely, and solitude gives way to the bustle of the main road. Arzúa, famous for its cheese, is a village with a great pilgrim atmosphere and all services.
