Stage Description
This is the first stage of the Via del Nord, departing from Assisi. It's a mountainous journey, solitary and of great beauty. The path enters the forests of Monte Subasio, offering a radical change in landscape after the grandeur of Assisi. It's an episode to enjoy nature and tranquility, an demanding but very rewarding start for those continuing on the route northwards. Arrival at Valfabbrica, a small village in a valley, is a well-deserved rest.
The first stage of the Via del Nord is a 13.2 km journey that starts in Asís (424 m) and enters the forests of Monte Subasio. The route follows a descending profile with a gentle descent to Valfabbrica (280 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with oak and beech woods, offering panoramic views of the valley. It is a peaceful and easy walk that allows you to enjoy the scenery and arrive in time to explore the destination town. Valfabbrica is a small village in a valley, with a rural atmosphere and basic services for pilgrims.
