Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Short stage of the Mozarabic Way in the region of Marquesado del Zenete, at the foot of Sierra Nevada. The about 12 km run through the high plateau of Granada with arid landscape dotted with traditional orchards irrigated by Moorish irrigation ditches. Alquife is famous for its old iron mine (the largest open-pit iron mine in Europe until its closure in 1996), now converted into a natural space and mining interpretation center.
This long stage is an authentic challenge that culminates in the monumental city of Toledo. The route is a continuous rise and fall through the Toledo Mountains. It's a day of great beauty and physical demand. Arrival at Toledo, "The Imperial City", with its impressive heritage, is an unbeatable reward. This stage is one of overcoming, which strengthens both body and spirit.
