Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage is a journey to the heart of La Mancha and Don Quixote's universe. The route is flat and runs through a landscape of vineyards and olive groves. Arrival in El Toboso, Dulcinea's homeland, is a magical moment for any literature lover. The pilgrim can visit the Dulcinea Museum-House, the Cervantine Museum, and San Antonio Abad Church. It's a stage to walk slowly, imagining the adventures of the Ingenious Knight.
The stage between Las Pedroñeras and El Toboso is a day of deep literary flavor. The road, flat and without difficulties, enters the heart of Don Quixote's Mancha. The landscape is what Cervantes described: an immense plain dotted with vineyards and olive groves. Arrival in El Toboso is a very special moment. This village is worldwide known for being the homeland of Dulcinea, Don Quixote's beloved. Everything in the town breathes literature: the Casa-Museo of Dulcinea (a recreation of a 16th-century Manchegan house), the Cervantine Museum (with editions of The Quijote in over 70 languages) and the plaques with quotes from the novel adorning its streets. It's an end to the stage for a leisurely stroll, to wander through its corners and to immerse oneself in the universe of the most universal novel in Spanish literature.
