Stage Description

This stage enters the valley of the River Valcarce, serving as an approach to O Cebreiro. The profile is a false flat ascending profile that gains height almost imperceptibly. The path runs in a narrow canyon within the valley, often close to the road, in a beautiful landscape. The arrival at Trabadelo, a small town with all services, is a peaceful stop before tackling the legendary ascent to Galician mountain.
The stage that connects Villafranca del Bierzo to Trabadelo is the first part of the mythical ascent to O Cebreiro. The route retraces the valley of the River Valcarce, in an ascending false flat profile. The path runs narrow between mountains, in a beautiful landscape although unfortunately often running very close to the highway. Several small villages are crossed that offer services to pilgrims, such as Pereje. It is an stage for walking at a constant pace, preparing legs for the hard climb of the next day. Arrival at Trabadelo marks the end of the stage. This town has all necessary services and is a very popular stop among pilgrims. It's the perfect place for a good rest before facing the challenge of O Cebreiro.
