Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage joins the two bike ends of the Camino, a coastal ride of great beauty with a flat profile. The views of cliffs and beaches are spectacular. It is a day to enjoy the sea and the landscape of Costa da Morte. A perfect epilogue for the bike Jacobean adventure.
Combining Muxía and Fisterra by bike is the perfect way to complete the Jacobean pilgrimage. This 29.7 km stage is an authentic balcony over the Atlantic, a ride that follows the rugged coastline of Costa da Morte. Starting from sea level in Muxía (10m), the road faces a profile with steep climbs up cliffs followed by rapid descents into coves and beaches. The route passes through Lires beach, a beautiful sandy spot at the river mouth, marking roughly half the distance and offering a perfect place to stop. The landscape is wild and spectacular, with the sea crashing against one side and pine and eucalyptus forests on the other. As you approach Fisterra, the silhouette of the headland and its lighthouse becomes visible, guiding the cyclist through the final stretch. Arrival at Fisterra village (10m) and subsequent climb to the lighthouse is the culmination of the day. Watching the sunset from this point, considered by the Romans as the end of the world, is an unforgettable experience and the crowning glory of the pilgrimage.
