Stage Description
This 22.9 km long stage of the Winter Camino is one of the most demanding on the route. The profile is of high difficulty, with a long ascent leading to the Sierra do Courel. Along the way, you pass through mountain landscapes and dense forests, requiring good physical and mental preparation. The destination, A Pobra do Brollón, offers pilgrims basic services and the necessary tranquility for rest after a hard day's journey.
This stage, although of moderate distance, presents an initial downward profile and then a significant upward climb at the end. Starting from A Pobra do Brollón, the route enters the rural heart of Ribeira Sacra, offering views to wooded and agricultural landscapes. The main challenge is the pronounced descent to the Cabe River, followed by the ascent to Monforte. Arrival in Monforte de Lemos, capital of Ribeira Sacra, rewards the pilgrim with its imposing San Vicente do Pino monastery and rich historical and cultural heritage. It's an stage that combines contact with nature with immersion in the history and gastronomy of interior Galicia, being a precursor to exploring this unique region.
