Stage Description

This 22.5 km stage offers a pleasant change of scenery. Leaving behind the plain, the road approaches progressively to the Tera River valley, a more green and wooded environment. It's a comfortable day, with a majority of flat and descending profile, allowing for a relaxed walk. The route passes through small villages with charm and a riverbank landscape that offers shade and coolness. The arrival in Santa Croya de Tera, a town with a popular riverfront beach area, is ideal for the pilgrim's rest and refreshment, especially during the hottest months.
The 22.5 km journey between Tábara and Santa Croya de Tera is a transition landscape stage. The pilgrim says goodbye to the dry plains of the Land of Campos for to enter the fertile valley of the River Tera. The change is notable: the landscape becomes greener, the chimneys appear, and the road becomes more shaded and pleasant.

The profile of the stage is very favorable, with a general downward trend and no mountainous difficulties. The route runs on dirt tracks and tranquil local roads, in a predominantly rural environment. The pilgrim passes through the small town of Bercianos de Valverde, where a brief stop can be made.

The path follows the course of the River Tera, although not always along its banks, but its influence on the landscape is constant. It's a day to enjoy the tranquility and the sound of nature.

Arrival in Santa Croya de Tera is a pleasant surprise for the pilgrim, especially in summer. This town, located on the same riverbank, is famous for its extensive fluvial beach, a perfect place to cool off, rest, and relieve tired feet after walking. Santa Croya offers good services, including hostels and restaurants, and its warm and welcoming atmosphere makes it an appreciated final stage for Camino Sanabrés pilgrims.
