Discover Faro Roncudo

The Roncudo Lighthouse, located at the same name cape, near Corme, is a landmark of the Camiño dos Faros that represents the purest essence of Costa da Morte. Its name "Roncudo" evokes the rough and deep sound of the sea hitting the cliffs, a constant soundtrack that impresses the walker. This lighthouse not only guides ships but also watches over one of the most dangerous and richest areas of Galician coast. The rocks of Roncudo are famous for producing the most delicious and expensive scallops in Galicia, whose fishing is an occupation of high risk which can be observed on low tide days. For the hiker, the path to the lighthouse, flanked by crosses in memory of fallen sailors and "scallop fishermen", is a tribute to the sea people. The ocean's turbulent views and the steep coastline are spectacular. It is a stop that combines the wild beauty of the landscape with a deep respect for the hard life of the mariners.
