Moreruela is a small Zamoran village with immense importance in the history of pilgrimages. It is the great junction of the Silver Way, the exact point where the road forks. From here, pilgrims can continue north towards Astorga to join the French Way or divert west on the Sanabrés Way, a beautiful route to Ourense. Near the village are the impressive ruins of the Monastery of Santa María de Moreruela, cradle of Cistercian in Spain. For the walker, it is a place of decision, reflection and a stop with deep historical echo.
