Langres, one of the most beautiful fortified cities in France, is a spectacular stop on the Francigena Way. Nestled on a promontory of the meseta bearing its name, the town is surrounded by an impressive ring of walls that stretches over 3.5 kilometers. For pilgrims, walking along these walls, dotted with towers and monumental gates, is an unforgettable experience, with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. The town is also the birthplace of famous Enlightenment philosopher Denis Diderot. Its old quarter preserves a rich heritage, with Saint-Mammès Cathedral and numerous Renaissance houses.
