Discover Mequinenza
Mequinenza, situated in an strategic enclave at the confluence of the Ebro, Segre and Cinca rivers, is a major stop on the Camino Jacobeo del Ebro. Its history is marked by the construction of the dam that flooded the old town, from which today only the tower of the church emerges during dry periods. The new town was rebuilt in a new location. Dominating the landscape is its imposing medieval castle, a significant fortress. For pilgrims, Mequinenza offers a unique landscape, known as "Lake Aragon", an immense reservoir ideal for fishing and water sports. The locality is also a place of historical memory, with the Museums of Mequinenza, which explore the mining past and the history of the disappeared town. Although the stage can be difficult due to the aridness of the Monégro landscape, arriving in Mequinenza is finding an oasis of water and history. It's a stop that offers a unique perspective on the transformation of the territory along the Jacobean route.
