Mortara is an important city in the region of Lombardy, on the fertile plain of the Lomellina. For the pilgrim of the Francigena Way, it is a functional stop in an essentially agricultural environment. The city is especially famous for its cuisine, particularly for its duck products, such as "salame d'oca", to which it dedicates an annual festival. Its artistic heritage includes San Lorenzo Basilica and Sant'Albino Abbey, of great importance on the Jacobean route. With a good range of services, Mortara offers the traveler a comfortable rest and the opportunity to taste the unique flavors of this area before continuing on the way to Pavia.
