The Town
Discover O Porriño
O Porriño, an important industrial hub in Pontevedra province, is one of the first stops on the Portuguese Central Way in Galicia. Known worldwide for granite extraction, especially its distinctive "Rosa Porriño" variety, the town offers pilgrims a urban and service landscape. For years, its main drawback was the section through an industrial area, but the route has been significantly improved with a river path alongside the Louro River that makes the journey much more pleasant and natural. The town hall, designed by architect Antonio Palacios, is the most emblematic building. For the pilgrim coming from Tui, O Porriño is a great center of services, perfect for replenishing supplies and resting, with a good range of accommodations and dining options. It's an intermediate stage, a functional point that allows pilgrims to recharge before entering the undulating landscapes leading to Redondela and Vigo estuary.
