Santa Zilia in Jaca (Saint-Zilia in French), a small and peaceful village at the heart of Aragonese Pyrenees, is one of the most charming and tranquil stops on the Way of Aragon. Situated on the Berdún Canal, by the banks of the River Aragón, it offers pilgrims a restorative break after the first mountain stages. Its history is closely linked to the nearby and powerful Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, cradle of the Kingdom of Aragon, from which it depended for centuries. The village preserves an interesting heritage, with its Romanesque parish church. For the pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago, Santa Zilia is an oasis of hospitality, with a good hostel and basic services. It's the perfect place to enjoy Pyrenean landscape, river sounds and rural simplicity. It's an stage that allows to assimilate the surroundings beauty and prepare for arrival at the monumental city of Jaca, a stop that embodies the purest and most serene essence of the Aragonese Jacobean route.
