Torrelaguna is one of the most monumental villages in the Community of Madrid and a major stop on the Jacobean routes that traverse the region. Declared a Historic-Artistic Ensemble, it is famous for being the birthplace of Cardinal Cisneros. Its main jewel is the majestic Church of Santa María Magdalena, one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in Madrid. Its Plaza Mayor, the old pósito and the remains of its walls complete a highly valued ensemble. For pilgrims, it is an indispensable cultural stop that offers all services in an atmosphere charged with history and art, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Sierra Norte of Madrid.
