Discover Valladolid
Valladolid, the capital of Castile and León, is one of the great cities that the pilgrim encounters on the route of the Madrid Way. With a rich past as an ancient capital of the Spanish court, it offers a urban stopover full of history, culture, and vitality. The pilgrim can explore a notable patrimony, which includes the Plaza Mayor, model for many others in Spain, the Cathedral, the College of St. Gregory (seat of the National Sculpture Museum) and Cervantes' House. For rest and enjoyment, Valladolid is famous for its exceptional tapas culture, with numerous areas to taste local cuisine in miniature. The city is perfectly equipped with all services, accommodations, and good communication. In the Way of St. James, Valladolid represents an important urban oasis on the vastness of the Castilian tableland, a place to replenish forces, enjoy a rich cultural and social life, and prepare for the following stages that lead to the meeting with the French Way in Sahagún.
