Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

After the mythical ascent to O Cebreiro, this short stage is a spectacular walk along the mountain's crest. The profile is a gentle rise and fall of over 1,200 meters in altitude, with panoramic views of the Os Ancares and O Courel ranges. It's a day to enjoy alpine scenery and authentic Galicia. The destination is Fonfría, a small mountain village that offers a peaceful and restorative break.
The stage that starts from the magical village of O Cebreiro is one of the most beautiful stages of the entire French Way. It's a short day that runs along the crest of the Serra de Rañadoiro, in a terrain of gentle undulations at high altitude. The landscape is spectacular, with 360-degree views over a sea of mountains. The path advances along a mountain trail, in an environment of high-altitude meadows and heather. It passes through the small villages of Liñares and Hospital de la Condesa. The highest point on the French Way in Galicia is Alto do Poio. Arrival at Fonfría, a traditional village architecture, marks the end of the stage. Its name ("cold spring") refers to the fountain that welcomes the pilgrim. It's a place of absolute tranquility, perfect for rest.
