Stage Description

Final stage of the Via Augusta to Seville, one of the most monumental cities in Spain. The 18 km run along the Guadaíra valley to its confluence with the Guadalquivir, entering Seville through eastern neighborhoods to the historic center. The arrival at the monumental complex (cathedral, Giralda, Alcázar, World Heritage Site) is the perfect finishing touch to the Via Augusta. From here many pilgrims continue along the Vía de la Plata to Santiago.
The stage that starts from the magical village of O Cebreiro is one of the most beautiful stages of the entire French Way. It's a short day that runs along the crest of the Serra de Rañadoiro, in a terrain of gentle undulations at high altitude. The landscape is spectacular, with 360-degree views over a sea of mountains. The path advances along a mountain trail, in an environment of high-altitude meadows and heather. It passes through the small villages of Liñares and Hospital de la Condesa. The highest point on the French Way in Galicia is Alto do Poio. Arrival at Fonfría, a traditional village architecture, marks the end of the stage. Its name ("cold spring") refers to the fountain that welcomes the pilgrim. It's a place of absolute tranquility, perfect for rest.
