Stage Description

This is a short and gentle stage that runs through the fertile Cordobese countryside. The landscape is dominated by olive groves. The road is comfortable, on dirt tracks that allow for a relaxed walk. It's a transition day, ideal for recovering strength. Arrival in Castro del Río, a village with notable historical heritage, including a castle and a Roman bridge, crowns an otherwise peaceful day on the Mozárabe Route.
The journey that connects Baena and Castro del Río is a pleasant stroll through the heart of Córdoba's countryside. With a mostly descending profile and no difficulties, this short stage is perfect for a peaceful and restorative walk. The path leaves Baena and immediately plunges into a landscape of gentle hills covered by an olive grove. The route runs along white agricultural paths, in a beautiful and serene environment. The pilgrim passes alongside numerous Andalusian farmhouses. The pilgrim crosses the Guadajoz river. It's a day to enjoy the scenery and bask in the warmth of the south. Arrival at Castro del Río is the perfect finale for a peaceful day. This historic village, of Roman origin, boasts an interesting heritage. Its castle-fortress, its Roman bridge, and its old town with cobblestone streets are worth visiting.
