Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

This stage ends in Guadix, one of the oldest cities in Spain, founded by the Iberians as Acci and famous for its troglodyte quarter: more than 2,000 cave dwellings carved into the clay, still inhabited. The 22 km descend gently through the high plateau of Guadix-Baza. The cathedral of Guadix (16th century) and the fortress-fortress dominate the city.
Leaving behind the monumental Toledo, this stage enters into the Torrijos comarca. The route is an enjoyable stroll through flat terrain, between fields of cultivation. It's a day to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. The arrival in Rielves, a small village in a rural setting, is a true end of stage. It's a transitional day that brings the pilgrim closer to Ávila province.
