Stage Description

Long stage of the Mozarabic that leaves Antequera after visiting the famous prehistoric dolmens (UNESCO World Heritage) and the Peña de los Enamorados. The road heads north through the Vega de Antequera region, passing by the wetlands of the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, a natural refuge for flamingos. After about 25 km of predominantly flat profile we reach Villanueva de Algaidas, a small village in Malaga known for its Franciscan convent of the sixteenth century and its traditional Easter celebrations.
This stage variation is shorter but more mountainous. The route passes through the valley of San Xil, in continuous ups and downs through a beautiful landscape. The path runs through "corridors" shaded, beech forests and small villages. It's a more physically demanding option, but it rewards with authenticity and rural tranquility in Galicia. Both variations converge at the entrance to Sarria, the most important village of the Camino in Galicia.
