Stage Description
This is one of the most difficult and beautiful stages of the Primitivo Way, the crossing of Palo Port. It's a high mountain day with considerable elevation gain and spectacular scenery. It's an itinerary for experienced walkers and mountain lovers. The arrival in Pola de Allande, a small village in a valley, is well-deserved rest after the hard ascent. It's an epic day that marks a before and an after on the way.
The Tineo to Pola de Allande stage is one of the hardest and most beautiful of the Primitivo Way, a 28km journey that includes crossing the Palo Port. The trail starts in Tineo (650m) and follows a high mountain profile with continuous ascent that surpasses 1,100 meters in altitude at the Palo Port. The route passes through an spectacular landscape, with dense forests, deep valleys and panoramic views lost in the horizon. It is a very solitary journey, requiring excellent physical preparation and good planning. The wild beauty of the surroundings is the great reward for effort. After reaching the top of the port, it begins a long descent to Pola de Allande (500m), a small village in a valley.
