Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This stage continues across the Manchegan plain, in a flat and easy terrain. The landscape remains dominated by fields of cultivation. The great incentive of the journey is arrival at Tembleque, one of the most beautiful villages in Castile-La Mancha. Its main square, of popular Baroque style and declared a Cultural Interest Site, is one of the most original and spectacular in Spain. It's a monumental stop that surprises and charms the pilgrim.
The journey that unites Don Fadrique's Village with Tembleque is a flat stage that offers one of the architectural treasures of La Mancha as its reward. The route runs through a landscape of fields of grain and vineyards. Arrival at Tembleque marks the day's climax. Its main square is a masterpiece of popular architecture from the 17th century. A square in plan, it is porticaded with wooden columns and corridors on the upper floor, which served as stages for festivities. Its harmony and beauty are overwhelming. In addition to the square, Tembleque also has other monuments of interest, such as the church of Our Lady of the Assumption. It is a compulsory stop on the Levante Route.
