Stage Description

Leaving behind the monumental Tomar, this long stage enters the central mountains of Portugal. The route is a continuous up and down through a landscape of forests and hills. It's a beautiful but physically demanding day. The arrival in Alvaiázere, a small village in a valley, is a well-deserved rest. This stage puts the pilgrim to the test, but rewards with spectacular scenery.
The Tomar to Alvaiázere stage is a 32-kilometer long journey that ventures into the central Portugal's hills. The trail starts in Tomar (80 m) and follows an undulating profile, with a gentle ascent towards Alvaiázere (200 m). The route traverses a beautiful landscape, with forests and hills. It's a demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the tranquility of the surroundings. Arrival in Alvaiázere, a small village in a valley, is well-deserved rest. This stage combines gentle exercise with rich historical experience, a perfect balance on the Portuguese Way.
