Stage Description
This stage departs from the lake to ascend towards the Lucretili Mountains. It's a mountain day, with an demanding profile and a landscape of forests and meadows. The path enters the Natural Park of the Lucretili Mountains, a beautiful and biodiverse environment. Arrival in the medieval town of Orvinio, one of "Italy's most beautiful villages" (pueblos más bellos d'Italia), is an end to stage with charm. It's a day to enjoy the mountains and tranquility.
The Castel di Tora to Orvinio stage is a 13.5km journey that represents a new change of scenery. The route leaves the shores of Lake Turano (620m) and ascends into the Lucretili Mountains, entering the same-named natural park. The stage's profile is demanding, with continuous uphill climbing reaching an altitude of 950 meters. The route traverses a mountain landscape, passing through dense forests of beech and oak trees, and offers spectacular views of the valley. It is a hike that requires good physical effort but rewards with the beauty of its natural surroundings and the feeling of being in full nature. Arrival at Orvinio (840m), a charming medieval town that is part of the "I Borghi più belli d'Italia" association, is an end stage of great charm. Its castle, church, and cobblestone streets invite a leisurely stroll. It is a stage that combines a great physical challenge with the beauty of the mountains and a final in a locality with a rich cultural and gastronomic offer.
