Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

The last stage to "The End of the Earth". This 16 km short walk is a spectacular coastal stroll that borders Corcubión Bay. The path passes through the beautiful Langosteira beach, a two-kilometer long sand spit, before ascending to Finisterre village. It's a journey to savor every step, with the sound of waves and the smell of salt as companions. The pilgrimage ends with the final 3 km climb from the town to the iconic Lighthouse of Finisterre, the endpoint, where tradition invites contemplation of sunset over the ocean, a ritual of purification and rebirth that crowns the Camino.
The stage leading to Finisterre is the last chapter of the pilgrimage for many. With just 16 km, it's a journey to enjoy and assimilate all the experiences of the Camino. Starting from Cee or Corcubión, the route follows the coastline, offering spectacular views of the estuary and the sea.

The most notable section is the walk along the long and beautiful beach of Langosteira, an invitation to take off one's shoes and feel the sand and water of the Atlantic Ocean. After the beach, you arrive at the marina village of Fisterra (Finisterre), a fishing village with a bustling port and a welcoming atmosphere.

But the true end of the Camino is 3 kilometers from the village. A steep road ascends to Cape Finisterre, where the iconic lighthouse stands tall. This place, considered the "finis terrae" of ancient times, is a haven loaded with magic and symbolism. The tradition commands that pilgrims perform several rituals here: burning some clothing used on the Camino as a symbol of purification, collecting a shell from the beach as proof of arrival, and above all, sitting on the rocks to contemplate the sunset over the infinite ocean. It's a moment of deep introspection and emotion, the crowning glory of an unforgettable adventure. The visit to the milestone at kilometer 0.0 is the final photo of the journey.
