Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This 19-kilometer stage marks the exciting encounter of the pilgrim with the Atlantic Ocean. The journey begins with a gentle ride across the plateau, but soon starts a long and spectacular descent to the coast. The highlight is the descent from the Cruceiro da Armada, where breathtaking views of Cape Finisterre and the vastness of the sea are first obtained. It's an emotionally charged moment. After the pronounced descent, the road arrives at Cee village, an important service center in the Costa da Morte, with its port and beach, offering a maritime atmosphere and well-deserved rest by the sea.
The 19 km stage from Olveiroa to Cee is one of the most awaited and exciting stages. It's the journey where, finally, you see the sea. The path leaves Olveiroa and, after passing by the bifurcation that allows access to Muxía, continues towards Finisterre.
The first part is a pleasant stroll across the plateau, passing alongside Castrelo reservoir. The landscape is open and tranquil. But the magical moment of the day arrives in the descent towards Cee. From a known point called Cruceiro da Armada, the pilgrim suddenly finds himself with an impressive panoramic view: Corcubión Bay, Cape Finisterre, and the Atlantic Ocean stretching out to infinity. It's one of the most photographed and emotional moments on this route.
From there, a very pronounced and technical descent begins that takes the hiker from the plateau to sea level. The descent is demanding for the knees, but the constant views of the ocean ease the effort.
The path arrives in Cee, the largest settlement on the Costa da Morte and an important center of services. With its port, hospital, and lively commercial life, Cee offers the pilgrim everything they need. The stage usually ends in the neighboring and more picturesque Corcubión, just a kilometer away, with its historic quarter declared Historic-Artistic Ensemble. Both places are perfect for enjoying a marine atmosphere and a fresh seafood dinner.
