Stage Description
A stage through the Sierra Morena of Córdoba. The 20 km link Cerro Muriano (an old copper mining area from Roman times) with Villaharta through pastures, oak groves and forests of rockrose and arbutus. The landscape is of the deep Sierra Morena, with big game and scattered rural houses. Villaharta is a small village of cattle tradition with a historical spa of medicinal waters.
This stage marks the end of the Meseta and the expected arrival at one of the major capitals on the Camino Francés: León. The route is predominantly flat, but the landscape changes dramatically as you leave the rural surroundings to enter the urban and industrial periphery of the city. Despite the last few kilometers being tedious due to asphalt and traffic, the reward is immense. The entry into the historic quarter of León and the view of its majestic Gothic Cathedral, "The Beautiful Leonine", with its incomparable stained glass windows, is one of the most exciting moments of the entire pilgrimage.
