Stage Description

This is a short and descending stage that leads the pilgrim from historic Chinchilla to modern and dynamic Albacete city. The path leaves the Chinchilla hill to enter the surrounding plain which surrounds the provincial capital. The route is simple and serves as a comfortable approach to the large city.
The stage from Chinchilla de Montearagón to Albacete is a short journey of 16 kilometers, predominantly downhill, making it an enjoyable stroll to the province's capital. The route starts at historic Chinchilla (900 m) and descends gently into the plain, offering spectacular panoramic views of the plateau beneath its feet. The route follows roads and paths that become increasingly urbanized as one approaches Albacete. It is a transition stage, allowing the pilgrim to pass from the tranquility of a historic village to the bustle of a modern capital. Arrival in Albacete (686 m) marks entry into a flat city, comfortable for walking, with an excellent range of services. Known for its cutlery industry, fair (designated International Tourist Interest), and vitality, Albacete offers pilgrims an excellent opportunity to rest, replenish themselves, and enjoy their cuisine and atmosphere. Points of interest such as the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, the Lodares Passage (a beautiful modernist gallery) or the Knife-making Museum enrich the visit. It is a functional and pleasant final stage, ideal for recovering strength.
