Stage Description

This is one of the longest and most symbolic stages of the Way of Saint James. The route enters French Basque Country, with a landscape of green hills and charming villages. It's a journey of great beauty and challenge. Arrival in Ostabat is a very special moment, as here three of France's major Jacobean routes converge: the Via Turonensis, Via Podiensis, and Via Lemovicensis. It's a crossroads for pilgrims, a prelude to crossing the Pyrenees.
The Orthez to Ostabat stage is one of the longest and most symbolic sections of the Via Lemovicensis, a 43km marathon that ventures into French Basque Country.
