The stage between Palas de Rei and Melide is a short but highly strategic and gastronomic journey. The profile is a continuous rise and fall, with little difficulty. The most important milestone of the day is undoubtedly the arrival at Melide. In this crowded village, the Camino Francés and the Camino Primitivo converge, multiplying the influx of pilgrims and creating an exceptional Jacobean atmosphere. Melide is famous throughout Spain for being the capital of octopus. It's almost a ritual for the pilgrim to stop in one of its many "pulperías" to enjoy a serving of "pulpo á feira", a gastronomic reward that gives strength to continue.
