Leaving behind the monumental Freiburg, this long stage ventures into the heart of the Franche-Comté countryside. The route is demanding, with an undulating profile and frequent ups and downs. It's a day to enjoy the beauty of rural landscapes, with farms, forests, and views of the Prealps. The arrival at the walled city of Romont, perched on a hill, is a final stage with great medieval charm. This stage requires good physical effort, but rewards with spectacular scenery.
The stage from Fribourg to Romont is a long and demanding 32.4 km journey that traverses the countryside of the canton of Fribourg. The route leaves the city of Fribourg (581 m) and enters a landscape of hills, forests and fields of cultivation. The profile is very undulating, a continuous up and down that puts the pilgrim to the test. The route passes through small villages and isolated farms in an environment of great tranquility and beauty. It's an stage that offers total immersion in rural Switzerland. Arrival in Romont (790 m) is a spectacular final stage. This medieval town, situated on top of a hill, retains its intact walled area. Its castle, collegiate church and cobblestone streets offer a journey through time. The views from Romont over the surrounding countryside are magnificent. It's a demanding stage that is rewarded with an exceptional destination.
