This stage is a total immersion in the Land of Campos. The route is completely flat and runs along dirt tracks that cross a sea of cereal fields. It's a day of great solitude and austere beauty, ideal for meditation. The route passes through small adobe villages like Berrueces. The destination is Cuenca de Campos, a town with a rich history and notable Mudéjar heritage, standing out its church of San Justo and Pastor. This stage is to feel the essence most profound of the Castile Plain.
The stage that connects Medina de Rioseco with Cuenca de Campos is a pure Land of Campos journey. The profile is completely flat, and the road advances over dirt tracks that get lost in the horizon. The landscape is an immense cereal plain, dotted with small adobe villages and some palomares, typical constructions of the region. It's a stage of great solitude, ideal for introspection. The route passes by Tamariz de Campos, with its Mudéjar church. The end of the stage arrives at Cuenca de Campos, a locality that had great importance in the Middle Ages. It preserves an interesting patrimony, highlighting the churches of San Justo and Pastor and of Santa María del Castillo, both with Mudéjar elements. Its tranquil atmosphere and authenticity offer a well-deserved rest to the pilgrim.
